The Somerset is one of our most popular classic Victorian bedsteads.
The Somerset metal bedstead is one of our most popular classic beds. Offering 2” side posts for strength and longevity, finished off with solid brass top caps and brass bed knobs (photography for guidance only). This bedstead suggests elegance at its finest with sweeping curved brass top rails for that extra layer of class.
There are no bolts or welds on the Somerset bed design.
Hand cast at our Cornwall foundry and made with all the traditional fixings you would expect from an authentic re-production.
The Somerset can be manufactured as a bedstead, bed surround, headboard, four-poster bed, or as a bedstead with no foot end. You can order your Somerset in any of our house metal colour options or in any colour not shown starting from an extra £100. If you would like to swap brass details for nickel on your bed, our team would be happy to personalise it for you starting from an extra £100, depending on design and brass elements included. We cast our beds to exacting standards using time-honoured skills and craftsmanship.

Well, not that I am condoning divorce, not at all, its a heart breaking and very sad experience (to me it was,) but if there WAS a silver lining it would come in the shape of my fantastic new bed.
The Somerset. King size. In Blue and Nickel. What an absolute beauty. I was edging towards playing safe and going Black and Brass to save a few quid, but Julian pushed me to go with what I wanted and I am so glad he did, the bed is a work of art.
I absolutely love it and smile every time I see it or touch the footboard on my way to the loo in the dark of night (yeah I'm of a certain age, and he left for someone much younger)
As they say these days FI-SH-MO!!

Cornish beds are handmade in four standard sizes; single 3ft (90cm wide), double 4'6" (135cm wide), king size 5ft (150cm wide) and super king size 6ft (180cm wide).
The standard lengths for single and double bed is 6'3" king size and super king size beds are 6'6" in length.

COLOURS
All our cast beds and daybeds are powder coated in the foundry by us, for a long lasting and robust finish in any of our standard range of house colours below. If you do not see a colour that fits, please contact our sales team on 01726 825 182 to discuss our custom colour service.

We complement our beds with a collection of mattresses that are all made by hand in Devon by our parent company, Naturalmat. The mattresses are a perfect fit for our beds, and cover all budgets.
