The picturesque waterside town of Fowey, south Cornwall, is a very special place for The Cornish Bed Company. It’s home to the beautiful Victorian house of Sue Dunlop, and also home to The Cornish Bed Company’s 1,000th bed.

A bespoke Pencarrow white metal daybed has been lovingly handcrafted by our small team of craftsmen - who have been creating beds for 25 years - and delivered to Sue’s 18th century home.

Sue, who has lived in Fowey for five years, first made contact with The Cornish Bed Company back in 2012.

“I first discovered The Cornish Bed Company when we were looking for new beds and mattresses for some holiday homes we own here in Cornwall,” said Sue.

“We were immediately taken by the style of Cornish beds; they are a classic design that look great in any space.”

Having bought two kingsize and two twin Cornish beds, as well as two mattresses from our sister company Naturalmat, for her holiday home, Sue returned to us in March 2019 to find a small daybed for her living room.

“Our house is a historic 18th century building, so the traditional styling of the Pencarrow daybed meant it was the perfect fit for our home,” continued Sue.

“We’re delighted to support such a great local company, and be the owners of the 1,000th Cornish bed. The team is always so helpful and the no-fuss service is brilliant!”

Like all Cornish beds, the Pencarrow white metal day bed was issued with its own certificate of authenticity, and our team delivered and assembled the bed in Sue’s home.

We’re proud of every custom made bed which leaves our foundry in Par, Cornwall, and the skill and effort we put into our products is evident in the end result: beautiful beds which are built to last a lifetime.

Thank you to all of our customers for supporting us over the years, here’s to the next 1,000!
